Here are some of the types of projects that you can be involved with at our ministry sites.
NOTE: Project funds are NOT included in your trip cost.
Project money or project funds are the means in which teams obtain the materials necessary to completing a specific project. These funds are sent directly to M.E. before the team arrives at its camp site. These funds are then combined with the funds of other teams at that particular camp site. M.E. then uses these funds to purchase materials for all the teams present at the site. The amount of project funds needed varies depending on the specifics of the project. NOTE: M.E. understands that not all teams have the financial resources as others and would never disqualify a team from participating due to lack of project funds. However, the success of our events is based on our ability to provide the necessary materials to see each project to completion. Mission Encounter strongly encourages all teams to provide $500 – 1500 for each team. This amount will also depend on the nature of the designated projects.
Construction
The construction and community service projects vary both in size and the amount of dollars needed for materials.
- Clean up and light repair
- Furniture construction
- New Construction
There is something for any person who would like to serve in these capacities. Due to the special nature and distance needed to travel to some projects, we will work with each team on a one-to-one basis. This way we can tailor your hours, meals and travel to best suit your team to the project.
Evangelism and Children Outreach
- Children Outreach... Vacation Bible School, block parties, day camps
- Homeless Ministry... serving in homeless shelters, passing out food boxes, clothes, etc
- Elderly and Aging Ministry... Visiting isolated older people in assisted care facilities
- Music Ministry... Local churches, community concerts, children's orphanages, etc.
When working with children you could have an overwhelming number of children and teens. Most church buildings are not large enough to handle the large number. You need to plan for an outdoor program.
Sports Clinics
The typical sports on the island are soccer, basketball, rugby and baseball. If you have a coach or a team that would like to do clinics, we have a spot for you! We will schedule teams and tournaments for you to participate in, and an exciting week of training for the children and youth of the island.
Nursing Clinics
The medical needs on the island are great. Most of the people living in the villages cannot afford the high cost of medical care. If you have doctors or nurses in your church who would like to help provide free medical clinics, please have them contact us.
Concerts
If you have a youth, college, or adult choir, we have several schools, churches, and public sites that you can minister in music.
